Governor Rotimi Amaechi
The Rivers state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi has mentioned a PDP governorship aspirant, Odien Ajumogobia as one of the most respected and intelligent men in Rivers state.
Governor Amaechi said this while commending Senator Magnus Abe for showing an attitude of Statesmanship after Dakuku Peerside was chosen as the APC governorship flagbearer.
The governor said this at the APC primary election holden at the Alfred Diette-Spiff Civic centre, moscow road, Port Harcourt.
While expressing his regret for neglecting Senator Abe and his Deputy, Tele Ikuru, Governor Amaechi said the PDP governorship aspirant, Odien Ajumogobia was an upright man.
Amaechi also said the current administration has been able to show that another party can survive in Rivers state.
“The total number of people in this hall is equilivalent to the number of votes CAN got in Rivers state in 2011. If for nothing else, I want to thank God that those who think another party cannot exist in Rivers state have been disappointed.
“Let me use this opportunity to say Senator Magnus Abe is eminently qualified to become the Governor of Rivers state because he’s very intelligent.
“You see, there two Nigerians from Rivers state that I respect their level of intelligence and they are Senator Magnus Abe and Odien Ajumogobia. But don’t worry, Odien is in the other party he will not even win the primaries. They won’t allow him win.
“I told Magnus that he’s eminently qualified and for my Deputy, he’s very experienced but we can only chose one person from that zone,” Amaechi said.
DAILY POST reports that the APC leader of the electoral delegates, Austin Iweka commended Governor Amaechi and the party stakeholders in the state for settling for a consensus candidate.
Leader of the Rivers state caucus in the House of Assembly, Asita Asita moved the motion to adopt Dakuku Peterside as the only candidate contesting the governorship election on the platform of the APC in Rivers state.
