The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) Dr. Dakuku Peterside, on Monday, disclosed to the public his four point programme for the state if given the mandate to run the affairs of the state come February 28.
The APC governorship hopeful in the State, had in Port Harcourt pledged to continue with the mono light rail project set in motion by Governor Rotimi Amaechi, affirmeing that his agenda would be based on four pillars which are public sector accountability, security, and human and capital development.
On job creation, he assured the people of Rivers state that he will set up a Rivers State Security Trust Fund to aid security agencies, noting that his administration if voted in will install CCTV cameras at different points across the state. He said to enhance security, helicopters would be deployed for surveillance.
“We understand the relationship between unemployment and security. So, we will productively engage our youths. We will secure the waterways and the entire state,”.
In the area of transparency, Peterside pledged his government’s resolve to implement the Freedom of Information law, emphasizing that those in his government will abide by the directives.
He said “We will domesticate the Freedom of Information Act. Government officials must comply with it. It is not optional. We will give quarterly account to the people,”.
