A former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC and gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Adamawa State, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has congratulated the President-Elect, Muhammdu Buhari over his deserved victory in the presidential election. He also saluted President Goodluck Jonathan for his courage to accept defeat.
Ribadu made the commendation in a statement issued by his media aide, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, applauding Nigerians for the orderly manner in which they conducted themselves before, during and after the presidential polls.
“I am particularly happy that despite ominous predictions of violence, the process has come and gone peacefully, credit should go to President Goodluck Jonathan who promptly conceded and called for calm,” he said.
He also commended President Goodluck Jonathan for providing a level playing field for a free and fair election to hold, adding that the development is a sign that democracy is being rooted in the country.
“It is important to note that at the end of the day, our country, our states and democracy should be made the ultimate winners.
“As we approach the next round of election, we should remember that the first winner should be our states and our people, thus the need for us to conduct ourselves peacefully.
He called on Buhari to be fair and just to all for national unity and integrity to be rooted in Nigeria and appealed to the electorates to reflect this conduct when they return to the booth to elect governors and state Assembly members on April 11.
