The Isaac Boro Park, Mile 1 Port Harcourt, which is the venue for the planned RevolutionNow protest, was on Monday cordoned off by the Police in Rivers State.

DAILY POST reports that armed security personnel were seen at the park with no protester in sight.

Spokesman of the Rivers state Police Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni told newsmen in Port Harcourt that the Command is enforcing the order from the Force Headquarters.

Omoni said officers have been given directive to stop any gathering that can cause civil unrest in the state.

According to him, “We will remain that venue until we are sure they are coming out.

“The advise is that the protesters should stay at home and any attempt to undermine the security of the state will be resisted by the Police. That protest is ill-motivated.”

Wike further directed all Local Government chairmen in the state to report any suspected activity to the authorities.

The directive of the Governor was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s Special Assistant on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu.
