A group known as the Buhari Friends Organisation Network has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to revive all major refineries in the country in order to end the lingering fuel scarcity being experienced by Nigerians.
The organisation in a statement by it’s national coordinator, Anthanasis Okon, said, “by revamping the refineries, this will encourage new price regime and tackle the incessant fuel scarcity.”
Okon also called on Buhari to relieve appointees of the former President, Goodluck Jonathan, who had been sabotaging his government and engage new ones, especially those who were committed and loyal to the party.
He said, “Apart from the required experience, appointees should be people with grass root orientation, the real people who know the yearning and aspirations of the poor, and not the elites with the city life and influence.”
Urging the President to tackle the issue of multiple taxation in every sector of the economy, the organisation noted that when handled effectively, businesses would grow, especially the local enterprises thereby reducing the suffering of the masses.
“Government should as a matter of urgency address the problems of multiple taxations, as Nigerians are made to suffer so much in this regard, especially as major service providers in key sectors of the economy have since increased their cost of services in form of taxation,” Okon said.
He further stressed that taxation by different government organisations and agencies could bring about discomfort for the people and impede easy access to basic infrastructure.
