There is sadness and grief in Enyeamas’ home, as Lille goalkeeper, Vincent, has lost his mother.

This was confirmed by former media officer of the Super Eagles, Colin Udoh, in a tweet on Wednesday night.

He wrote: “Unable to reach Enyeama so far, but have confirmed from close family sources that he lost his mum hence the withdrawal from #SuperEagles.”

National team coach, Sunday Oliseh, had earlier confirmed to reporters at a media parley in Abuja, that “[Enyeama] asked to be withdrawn from this game, for which reason I don’t know, I think you have to ask him personally.

“The late withdrawal has put me in a very tight situation because I must confess that the task ahead of us is a very difficult one and I didn’t need this extra burden.

“We’re practically starting this team from the scratch, it’s not very pleasant but that’s life.”
