Rescheduled elections: Security operatives conduct show-of-force in Plateau

Barely 48 hours to the conduct of the rescheduled Presidential and National Assembly elections, security agencies in Plateau State have conducted a show of force in the state.

Addressing the personnel before the exercise, Commissioner of Police in the State, Isaac Akinmoyede said the exercise was aimed at ensuring peaceful elections in the state.

Akinmoyede said, the “show of force” is not to intimidate members of the public, but to let the residents know of its readiness to provide adequate security during the polls.

“This show of force is to let residents of Plateau know that we are ready to secure lives and property as well as ensure the peaceful conduct of the elections.

“We are not going to intimidate anyone, but to further build public confidence on the security agencies working in the state,” he assured.

The Police boss warned the personnel against the use of firearms during the exercise and advised them to be civil during the show.

DAILY POST reports that the exercise took the security to various points within Jos and Bukuru metropolis.
