Reps: Oyo lawmaker declares intention to battle Gbajabiamila, others for Speaker

Jide Olatunbosun, member representing Saki West/Saki East/Atisbo Federal Constituency of Oyo state in the National Assembly has declared his intention to contest for the position of the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The second term lawmaker made this known in a text message to his colleagues at the green chamber, which was also made available to newsmen on Monday in Abuja.

He said, “9th Assembly: My intention to contest for the office of the Speaker.

“My compliments, dearest colleagues,

“With utmost sense of responsibility, I write to humbly notify you of my intention to vie for the Office of the Speaker, House of Representatives.

“In realization of this, I hereby solicit your kind support. Yours in service of the nation.”

With this declaration, Olatunbosun will be slugging it out with the incumbent Majority Leader of the House, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Ado Doguwa, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Abdulrazak Namdas and Bego to succeed the incumbent Speaker, Yakubu Dogara.

DAILY POST recalls that Olatunbosun had earlier said he is under pressure to run for the office of the Speaker of the lower chamber of the federal legislature.
