The House on Thursday approved the request following the adoption of a motion moved by the majority leader, Hassan Ado Doguwa.

Moving the motion, Doguwa stated that the approval is pursuant to the “Provisions of Section 151 (1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has the power to appoint any person as a Special Adviser to assist him in the performance of his functions.”

He explained further that “Section 2, Part 1 (B) of the Certain Political, Public and Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc.) (Amendment) Act, 2008 prescribes the remuneration and allowances of such Special Advisers.”
