The Commissioner of Police, Kwara Command, Mr Olusola Amore, has advised residents of the state to resist rights violation by operatives of the Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) and other policemen in the state.
The Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state Police Command, Ajayi Okasanmi, said this in a statement he signed in Ilorin.
Okasanmi quoted Amore as further advising members of the public in the area that suffered any form of rights violation to report such to the command.
He said that the commissioner of police had directed SARS under his command to adhere strictly to the rules of engagement with the public at all times.
The police boss also directed SARS to ensure compliance to the ethics of good conduct of the Nigeria Police.
“Therefore, the general public is advised to resist any form of intimidation and extortion by SARS operatives forcing them to collect money, using their ATM cards and all other illicit tactics.
“The general public is also advised to call the following numbers to report any unwholesome activities of SARS operatives and indeed other policemen.
“The Commissioner of Police- 08037391280, Deputy Commissioner of Police-08036207875, OC SARS-080366035083 and PPRO-08032365122,” he said.
The command restated its commitment to the respect of the rights of the people of the state. (NAN)
