A former governor of Benue State, Senator George Akume has counseled his successor, Gabriel Suswam to repent of his sins and beg God for forgiveness.
Akume, the immediate past Senate Minority Leader, gave the advice while playing host to the people of Ushongo Local Government Area (LGA) of the state led by its Chairman, Saint Abraham, who paid him a condolence visit over the death of his elder brother Idyer Akume Dajo at his residence in Makurdi on Sunday.
Until his death, Idyer Akume Dajo was the paramount ruler of Tarka LGA of the state.
Akume who addressed the visitors in Tiv language, advised Suswam to pray for forgiveness and God would grant him the desired rest wherever he is at the moment.
He added that if Suswam was sincere in his prayers to God, God will hear and forgive him.
The former governor further added that but for the love of the people of the state the poverty situation during Suswam’s tenure may have forced him to stay out of Benue and from the people.
He, however, said he would never abandon the people of Benue for whatever reason.
While stating that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a party with a conscience, Akume asked the Ushongo caretaker chairman to make a difference within the six months he has been given to serve.
In his response, the Ushongo chairman noted that they were at Senator Akume’s residence to commiserate with him over the death of his elder brother.
