Remo Stars defeated COD United 2-0 over the weekend at the Agege Stadium in Lagos, to gain promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Umar Martaba scored twice in the second half of the encounter, as coach Nduka Ugbade’s men secured maximum points, which ensured they will play in the top flight for the first time ever.
The first half ended without goals, before Martaba opened scoring two minutes after the break. He got his second in the 66th minute, to seal victory for the visitors.
Remo Stars won eight games, drew four and lost one, getting 28 points from 13 games in their impressive campaign.
Their next fixture will be at home against Unicem Rovers at the Dipo Dino Stadium, Ijebu Ode, as they wrap up their Nigeria National League season.
