The Bauchi South senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, , Alhaji Garba Dahiru, has lamented the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s delay in issuing him certificate of return.
However, he urged the electoral body to obey the Court Order directing it to issue him and four other House of Representatives candidates, who hailed from the Senatorial District with certificates of return as elected federal lawmakers.
According to him, the five of them had obtained a court order by Justice Bello Kawu of the FCT High Court nearly one month ago to that effect.
Dahiru, who spoke on Saturday at a press conference in Bauchi, said: “The Court Order was given by Justice Bello Kawu on 16th May, 2019 on suit No. FCT /HC/CV/988/2019.
“The Court ordered that INEC should issue Certificate of Return to candidates that came second in the race for Bauchi South Senater seat and the four federal constituencies in the last general election. We urge INEC to obey the Court Order,” he stressed.
The four House of Representatives candidates for the federal constituencies are; Abdulkadir Ibrahim, Alkaleri/Kirfi (PDP), Dayyabu Chiroma, Darazo/Ganjuwa (Peoples Redemption Party), Awwal Jatau, Zaki (PDP) and Isa Mohammed Wabu Gamawa federal constituency (New Nigeria Peoples Party).
