In the course to sanitize the educational sector in Kaduna State, the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board have issued a memorandum requesting teachers in the state to register with the board or forfeit being promoted.
The Director of Social Mobilization of the board, Malam Shu’aibu Dabo, who made this known in Kaduna, added that besides registering with the board, the minimum teaching requirement of the National Certificate in Education would also not be considered for promotion.
It would be recalled that in August, the Board advised teachers without the minimum teaching requirement to obtain the certificate within five years or lose their jobs.
Mr Dabo said that the board had appointed supervisors to ensure a successful exercise in the three senatorial districts adding that the promotional examination for 2010/2011 would involve staff on grade levels 7 to 13, while those on level 14 and above would be considered later.
The director however stressed that the promotional exercise which had started would end on December 10, assuring the exercise will not disrupt school activities.
Dabo said over 17,000 teaching and non-teaching staff were eligible for promotion this year across the 23 local education authorities of the state.
