The American University of Nigeria (AUN) Yola has increased salary of its over 1000 employees.

The school said the development was to alleviate the effect of the current economic recession.

A press release issued Thursday by AUN Public Relations and Communications noted that although the university had been adversely affected by rising cost of commodities, the welfare of its workforce remained paramount.

“President Margee Ensign of the American University of Nigeria today announced graduated salary increments for all the national employees of the University below the senior management level, amounting to more than ₦91 million annually,” it read.

“Consequently, starting in December 2016, all the various categories of national employees at the institution will receive up to a 26 percent increase to cushion the impact of the current recession. More than one thousand national employees will be affected”.
