Real Sociedad appoint Moyes as new manager

David Moyes has been appointed as the new coach of Real Sociedad.

The Scot was the La Liga club’s top target to replace Jagoba Arrasate who was sacked earlier this month, but negotiations dragged on through the weekend.

However, on Monday night, the Basque outfit named Moyes, who endured a turbulent 10-month spell as Manchester United boss, as their new manager.

“Real Sociedad have reached an agreement with David Moyes to be the club’s first-team coach until June 30, 2016,” a short statement read.

According to reports, the 51-year-old will become the highest-paid coach in thee club’s history, after agreeing terms on a €2m-per-year contract.

Sociedad are currently 15th in the league, after claiming just nine points from their first 11 matches.
