Cesc Fabregas has said that Real Madrid would be “crazy”, if the go ahead to buy Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspurs, for a world record fee, given the current economic climate.
Madrid’s sporting director Zinedine Zidane, has already stated that the club are ready to bid more than the £80 million the shelled out on Cristiano Ronaldo, to take him from Manchester United in 2009.
“For me, spending €100 million on Gareth Bale is crazy. I don’t know how any club could spend that amount of money in these [economic] circumstances,” Fabregas told AS.
“He is a great player with all the right attributes, but we will have to see if Madrid sign him and if he can perform there.”
Speaking further on his future, the former Arsenal skipper, insisted that he was not moving from Barcelona, amidst interest from Manchester United.
He said: “People talk a lot, but the truth is that no one has spoken with me,” he said when asked about a possible move to Old Trafford.
“I want to triumph in Barcelona. That club is my home and I always dreamed of playing there, so I will try and succeed there as long as I can.”
