Real Madrid forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, has spoken about the controversial late penalty he scored against Juventus, to seal their passage into the Champions League semi-final.

The LaLiga side came into the second leg of the quarter-final clash with a 3-0 lead.

However, Mario Mandzukic’s brace and Blaise Matuidi’s goal, saw Juventus level the tie on aggregate.

With seconds left in the game, referee Michael Oliver pointed to the spot, after Medhi Benatia appeared to knee Lucas Vasquez in the back.

Ronaldo stepped up and fired high into the roof of the net.

“In football anything can happen. We didn’t play well but this serves as a lesson for us in the future.

“I don’t know why they were protesting. It was a clear penalty.

“Real Madrid is in the semi-finals and that’s it. I knew it was a decisive penalty. Thank God I scored,” he told reporters after the game.
