Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane, has hailed Cristiano Ronaldo’s “lovely gesture”, after he turned down the chance to complete his hat-trick, by giving a penalty to Karim Benzema.
Benzema netted the spot kick to make it 4-0 in their home win over Alaves on Saturday.
Ronaldo had already scored twice either side of a Gareth Bale finish.
But the Portugal handed the ball to Benzema when Bale was fouled in the area in the closing seconds.
“I am happy for Cristiano’s nice gesture with Karim. This shows he is a team player. It is something positive for me.
“Karim deserved this, to score a goal, as he had played a very good game. There is always pressure when you are Real Madrid’s No. 9, he is used to that. I am happy for all of it – another four goals, a clean sheet, all that we did,” Zidane said after the game.
