Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, has revealed that he would have loved to bring Lionel Messi to Santiago Bernabeu.
Messi has been at Barcelona since he was 13, winning eight La Liga titles, four Champions Leagues and five Ballons d’Or.
Perez has admitted that it would have been a dream to bring the Argentina captain to the Santiago Bernabeu. However, such move was bound to end in futility, as their rivals recruited him at a young age.
“Of course we would have loved to have had Messi at Madrid,” Perez told Onda Cero.
“But he was in the Barca youth team so it could never have happened!”
Messi moved to Barcelona in 2001 from Newell’s Old Boys, going on to play for the club’s junior, C, and B teams before making his senior debut in 2004.
