Former Manchester United captain, Roy Keane, has criticized Gareth Bale following his poor performance against Juventus and claimed it was like playing with “10 men”.
Bale started in the 2-1 loss to the Serie A champions in Turin, in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final and made little impact.
“It was difficult for Madrid to play with 10 men. gave them nothing. There was a lack of confidence; he kept making the easy decision. His team-mates can’t be happy with him. He took the easy option every time,” Keane told ITV.
Keane’s fellow pundit, Paul Scholes, was also not impressed with Bale and called out Sergio Ramos who played in midfield.
“He [Bale] wasn’t great tonight. He needs to be better as he wasn’t good enough,” Scholes said.
“I’d probably say [Madrid had] nine men with Ramos as well. It was a real lack of quality in there from him.
“Every time he got the ball he gave it away, he was giving the ball to the other team, he was hitting the ball out of play. [Luka] Modric was a big miss for them”.
