Real Madrid coach, Zinedine Zidane, has insisted that they still stand a chance of qualifying for the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
Ricardo Rodriguez and Maximilian Arnold scored for Wolfsburg, as they stunned the La Liga giants 2-0 at the Volkswagen Arena on Wednesday night.
Zidane expressed his frustration with the team’s performance, but refused to throw in the towel.
“I’m not happy with how the game went, especially the first half,” Zidane told reporters.
“That’s football, that’s how difficult it is. That’s what happens when you don’t play with intensity from the start. We have to rest and think about the return leg because we still have the chance to change everything.
“It wasn’t about a lack of confidence. We knew that we had a difficult game and we had one.
“We have 90 more minutes to try and achieve our objective. We need to be united and continue what we have been doing.”
The second leg at the Bernabeu takes place on Tuesday April 12.
