Head coach of Enugu Rangers, Imama Amapakabo, has admitted that his team has “one hand on the trophy”, as the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) rounds off this weekend.
The Flying Antelopes will be confirmed as champions, if they avoid defeat against El Kanemi Warriors in Enugu on Sunday.
It will be the first time Rangers are winning the title in 32 years . “Rangers have one hand on the trophy but we still have 90 minutes to play (against El Kanemi Warriors) and in football anything can happen,” Amapakabo told supersport.com.
He also revealed his secret to success with the Enugu club and insisted Sunday’s game will be more of the same.
“I always press high and try to strangulate my opposition no matter where I play, home or away, and Sunday’s game won’t be different,” he added.
Rangers are currently top with 60 points from 35 fixtures and have already qualified for next season’s CAF Champions League.
“We can only succeed on the continent by having continuity and adding a few players in certain positions,” Amapakabo explained.
