Ramadan fasting won’t affect my game against Bafana Bafana – Ahmed Musa

Super Eagles winger, Ahmed Musa, has insisted that ongoing Ramadan fasting, will not affect his performance if he is selected by Gernot Rohr, for Saturday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa.

Last week, there were reports that Rohr held talks with the Muslim players in the squad about shelving the Ramadan fasting ahead of the game, but Musa says such meeting never happened.

Musa is one of the four practicing Muslims in the squad alongside Maroof Youssef, Alhassan Ibrahim and Abdullahi Shehu.

“It’s not the first time I’m fasting and playing football as well,” the Leicester City star told Completesportsnigeria.com.

“It’s up to the coach to decide if I get to play or not but that won’t in anyway affect my game.

“We have put that behind us that unfortunate game and we need to win to start the campaign well. It’s our first game and we are confident.”

Ramadan is the month during which adult Muslims, are mandated to abstain from food and drinks including water, from dawn till dusk.
