Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, has warned his players that Milovan Rajevac’s sack, could work in favour of Algeria when they visit Uyo next month for a 2018 World Cup qualifier.
The Desert Warriors take on Nigeria on November 12, after they played out a 1-1 draw at home with Cameroon in their first match of the qualifying series.
It is understood that Rajevac fell out with some of his players, which eventually led to him leaving the job.
“This (sack) may be the motivation Algeria need to play against us,” warned the experienced Rohr, who led Nigeria to win 2-1 in Zambia at the weekend,” Rohr said.
“It will be difficult for a new coach to put together a team in three weeks for our match, but possibly the assistant coaches could manage it.”
The Algeria Football Federation (FAF) have already named Rajevac’s assistants, Nabil Neghiz and Yazid Mansouri, as interim coaches ahead of the trip to Nigeria.
FAF president, Mohamed Raouraou, says it will be difficult to appoint a permanent coach before the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
