Raheem Lawal joins Enyeama, Mikel Obi as doubts for Congo clash

Raheem Lawal

Raheem Lawal has emerged as another doubt for Nigeria, as he failed to complete the team’s training session on Thursday morning.

The Turkey-based midfielder, who played in the 3-1 win over Sudan in Abuja, had an ice pack around his left thigh, which early indications suggesting he might have picked up a hamstring injury.

Stephen Keshi is already worried about first-choice goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, who is nursing a strain on his right shoulder. However, team officials remain optimistic of his chances of playing against Congo in Pointe-Noire this weekend, in a crucial AFCON qualifier.

Mikel Obi is also expected to recover enough from a minor knee injury, while Babatunde Michael has already been replaced by Enyimba’s Kinglsey Sokari, after he underwent a knee operation in Ukraine.
