Quit notice on Igbos: You’re playing with fire – Fani-Kayode warns Northern youths

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has reacted to the three months eviction notice on Igbos in the North by some Arewa groups.

He warned that this time around, any act of war will consume the North who believe they own Nigeria.

Fani-Kayode said: “The northern youths must be warned and told in very clear terms that this is not 1966. Any pogrom or slaughter of Igbos in the north will lead to a swift, immediate and devastating retaliation throughout the south.

“Those that gave the Igbo quit notice in the north are playing with fire and that fire will consume them. They are opening the gates of hell and they will enter that gate.

“They are plunging us into darkness and we shall enter that darkness together. Nigeria belongs to us all.

“I urge the core Muslim northern elders and leaders to call their youths to order before they spark off a series of events and a crisis that may not only lead to a second civil war but will also lead to the end of Nigeria.

“This time around the Igbo are not alone. An attack on them is an attack on every southerner and every Middle Belter. And such an attack will have grave and unfathomable consequences”.

Meanwhile, leading pan-Northern group, Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, has condemned the ultimatum on Igbos.

Recall that spokesman of the coalition, AbdulAziz Suleiman, who read the ‘Kaduna Declaration’ to newsmen on Tuesday, called for mobilization “for sustained, coordinated campaigns at State Government Houses, State Houses of Assembly, Local Government Council Secretariats and Traditional Palaces to mount pressure for steps to be taken to ensure enforcement of the directives”.

“The North hereby openly calls on the authorities and other national and international stakeholders to acknowledge this declaration by taking steps to facilitate the final dissolution of this hopeless union that has never been convenient to any of the parties.

”From today, June 6, 2017, when this proclamation is signed, the North, a critical player in the Nigerian project, hereby declares that it will no longer be disposed to coexisting with the Igbos and shall take definite steps to end the partnership by pulling out of the current federal arrangement”.
