Quit notice: Ohanaeze hails Northern youths for respecting peace accord

The Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, on Friday lauded the coalition of Northern youth groups for keeping faith with agreement reached with them as a fallout of the October 1 quit notice issued against Igbos in the North.

It could be recalled that tension was high as a result of the quit notice, which culminated to series of meetings between the Arewa and the Igbo youths.

In a statement by the OYC, it saluted the Northern youths and reaffirmed their belief, “on the unity of Nigeria as the only option to protect the interest of Ndigbo especially those Living in Northern Nigeria.”

The statement signed by Comrade Obinna Achuonye, national vice president of the OYC said “since October 1st 2017, we have not received any sad news on any loss of lives or properties in any part of the North.

“We appreciate the efforts of ethnic nationalities youth groups, especially the coalition of Northern groups led by the President of Arewa consultative Youths, All Yerima Shettima, for keeping the part of the negotiation pact reached on September 14th 2017, Called ABUJA PEACE ACCORD, between Ohanaeze Youths Worldwide and Coalition of Northern Groups ‘that no igbo man will lose his life or business or properties in any part of 19Northern States of Nigeria’.

“THE ABUJA PEACE ACCORD, will be followed by ABA PEACE DECLARATION, where all the ethnic Nationalities Youth groups will gather to fully support the Nigeria Project.”

“Ohanaeze Youths call for calm, especially in the forthcoming Anambra Governorship election on November 18, 2017.

“We are aware of some desperate politicians who want to use Youths as a vehicle to get power by all means; it will be resisted by the OYC as independent and impartial observers; it’s only a man who has the interest of the youths that will win the election.

“We call for the rehabilitation of all the dilapidated federal roads in the south east”, the statement added.
