A onetime President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, said it is ridiculous to question Muhammadu Buhari’s academic credentials.
The former president disclosed this yesterday in London during his book launch, My Watch. He noted that to join the military, one must have WASC or GCE.
Obasanjo stated that the prerequisite were the same when Gen. Buhari enlisted into the army in 1961. He further added that even if Buhari upon enlisting did not meet up with the required qualifications back then, he did go through staff college which is an equivalent of Bachelor’s degrees and the U.S. War College also an equivalent of master’s degree.
He said “If anybody thinks that I’m illiterate or uneducated after attending many military institutions in the UK, India and the US, they should read my books”.
In his remarks, Obasnjo said God will not forgive him if he had allowed former vice-president, Atiku Abubakar to succeed him.
On the issue of his comments over heating the Nigerian polity, the former president said: “I am not heating anything. When things are going bad and you can’t say anything, you are an accomplice. If anybody can prove that what I am saying is wrong, I will apologise”.
While fielding questions on the Chibok girls, Obasanjo criticized the federal government for not acknowledging the incident on time, noting that enough has not being done to bring back the abducted girls.
