Paris Saint-Germain remains confident of completing a stunning £196million deal for Barcelona forward, Neymar.
The Ligue 1 club is willing to trigger his release clause of €222m (£196m), pay a signing on fee of £45m and offer a five-year deal worth £596,000 a week after tax.
If the move materializes, it would make the Brazilian superstar the best-paid footballer in Europe, ahead of his Barca team-mate, Lionel Messi.
Details of Messi’s new deal shows that the Argentina captain will now earn £500,000-a-week after tax at the Nou Camp. Messi was earning £350,000-a-week, but the club offered him an increase of 37%, as they sought to tie the 30-year-old down.
It took him above Cristiano Ronaldo as the highest-paid player in Europe. Ronaldo signed a new contract with Real Madrid in November 2016 and earns £365,000-a-week terms.
Further talks between PSG and Neymar’s father, who advises his son, are scheduled to take place over the next 24 hours.
