PSG insist they won’t take advantage of Neymar’s legal issues to sign him

Paris Saint-Germain Director of football, Patrick Kluivert, has said that the club are not seeking to exploit Neymar’s ongoing legal case in Spain, to try and lure him to France.

They are also seeking the same punishment for Neymar’s father and former Barca president, Sandro Rosell.

PSG, who have been linked with Neymar before, are however insisting they won’t seek to take advantage.

Kluivert said the situation was “a shame” and told Journal du Dimanche: “Could Neymar’s legal issues be an advantage to us? We are not going to try to take advantage of this issue.”

Neymar had been identified by PSG, as the player to fill the void left by Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but Kluivert said: “It is nice to have a star player but the team remains the most important thing.

“So, if it is possible, I will never say no if there is a chance to sign a star but I will not force it at any cost.”

Kluivert however admitted they would be active in the January window, as they look for a replacement for David Luiz, who has returned to Chelsea.

“It was impossible [to replace him this summer] because he left on the last day of the window,” Kluivert added.

“We are searching for someone who can play there and in other roles.”
