“PSG cannot rely on Ibrahimovic to win Champions League” – Okocha

Ibrahimovic-Ajax Nov2014

Former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, Jay Jay Okocha, has said that the club cannot depend on only Zlatan Ibrahimovic, to win the UEFA Champions League.

The Nigerian explained that the Ligue 1 champions, need to add “three or four oustanding players” to stand a chance of lifting the European Cup.

Ibrahimovic scored as the Parisiens recorded a 3-1 win over Ajax on Tuesday, but Okocha who played between 1998 and 2002 at the Parc de Paris, says he cannot do it alone.

“I think it’s clear that he’s their main man now and for that reason they cannot be quite there yet, because you need at least three or four outstanding players to be able to win the Champions League,” Okocha told Goal.

“If you are relying so much on one player you might go through a spell where he might not be in good form or he might be injured, and then you will suffer from that. So he might not be good enough alone to win the Champions League for them.”

Okocha however remained optimistic, that PSG can go on to win the trophy in the near future.

“I think if you look at their team this year, they have definitely improved from last year,” he added.

“And I think they stand a good chance of improving, so they will be up for it I think next season.”
