Probe Osun election video now – APC tells FG, NASS

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC,has called on President Goodluck Jonathan and the National Assembly to constitute an independent panel of enquiry to probe a video clip allegedly showing how the last governorship election in the state, held on the 9th of August, was rigged.

Making the call at a news conference in Osogbo, the state Chairman of APC, Prince Gboyega Famodun, said the video clip was fabricated by some unscrupulous individuals to discredit the election, adding that the video clip, which was brandished by the spokesperson of Jonathan Campaign Organization, Mr Femi Fani-Kayode, had nothing to do with the last August election in Osun State as the ballot papers shown in the video were different from the actual ballot papers used for Osun governorship election.

According to Famodun, the APC had given the video clip before now to the Department of Security Services and the police, hoping that the security agencies would take appropriate action by apprehending and prosecuting the culprits since their faces were shown clearly in the video.

The Osun APC boss condemned Fani-Kayode’s claim that the Osun election was manipulated, wondering what stopped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and its candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore from tendering the video clip at the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal if they were sure the video was genuine.

The party therefore threatened to compel the Osun State governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola to set up a panel of inquiry if the Federal Government and the National Assembly fail to set up one within the next two weeks. The party also added that it will be compulsory for parties to appear before the panel.

Famodun further said the APC has concluded plans to sue Fani Kayode for libel and insisted that the Jonathan campaign spokesman needs to explain where and how he came about the video in a court of law.
