President General of the Igbo community in Plateau State, Barrister Innocent Asogwa, on Wednesday described the pro-Biafra protest as illegal.
He noted that instead of embarking on the protest, the agitators should have been opened to options like going to court or the international community to seek justice against their alleged marginalization.
Asogwa made the call at the office of the new Police Commissioner in the State, Adekunle Oladunjoye when he led a group of Igbo people in the state on a visit to the commissioner.
The President General who led the group alongside the community traditional ruler, Professor Joseph Obilom assured the police that Igbos in the state would not partake in the protest.
Responding, the State Police Boss, Oladunjoye warned the Igbos in the state against any form of protest, saying, “I have not seen anything of such here in Plateau. But we have been directed to talk to you about MASSOB, Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra.
“We know it is an Igbo issue, and some people may want to show sympathy. If care is not taken, some people may want to hold the rally here. We want to appeal to you to let sleeping dogs lie,” Oladunjoye said.
