Lawyers representing Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, have gone to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), in an attempt to postpone the FIFA presidential elections originally scheduled for Friday.
Prince Ali is one of the five men, who are in the race to replace Sepp Blatter, whose presidency ended on December 21, after he was banned from all football-related activities for eight years.
“FIFA opposed our request for an accelerated procedure so that these questions could be decided before February 26,” his lawyers said in a statement to French news agency AFP.
“It was therefore natural that Prince Ali goes to the CAS.”
The other candidates are Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim al-Khalifa, Gianni Infantino, Tokyo Sexwale and Jerome Champagne.
