The gubernatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, on Wednesday declared his support for support restructuring of Nigeria.
According to him, the present presidential system of government is too expensive, corrupt and unproductive.
Lanlehin made this declaration while addressing a press conference in Ibadan, the state capital.
At the briefing were candidate of the party for Ibadan North West/ Ibadan South West in the House of Representatives Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, Hon. Olusegun Olaleye, Hon. Remi Sodiq, Hon. Abeeb Balogun, Hon. Lasun Adebunmi.
He said that the current presidential system we are practising in Nigeria accords too much powers to the president and governors that is why many of them do not perform well.
He said that a situation where governors have power to appoint people anyhow, make them to misbehave.
He said that the presidential system is too expensive; hence there is a need for restructuring of the country.
Lanlehin said, “I am going to be a governor who will support restructuring of this country because, presidential system is too expensive, corrupt and unproductive.
“The President can appoint anyone he likes, even his wife. They just bring anybody to be appointed and that is why we have the constituted authority. Things must change. I grew up here in Ibadan. But I want to leave a legacy.
“The presidential system is too expensive for us, it is corrupt and it is unproductive”.
Lanlehin while speaking further maintained that he remained the candidate of the party and a former Chairman of Iseyin Local Government Area, Mr. Saheed Alaran is his deputy gubernatorial candidate.
“Today, I am proud to say that I am the gubernatorial candidate of ADC in Oyo state. Alhaji Saheed Alaran is the deputy gubernatorial candidate of ADC. I can work with anybody.”
