Presidential Media Chat: Why I’m yet to react to Shiite, Army’s clash in Kaduna –

PIC 14. PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI (M) ANSWERING QUESTION FROM A PANEL OF JOURNALIST DURING PRESIDENTIAL MEDIA CHAT AT THE PRESIDENTIAL VILLA ABUJA ON THURSDAY (30/12/15) 7988/30/12/2015/ICE/NAN

President Muhammadu Buhari has explained the reason behind his silence over the recent clash between the Shi’ite Muslim Group and the Nigerian Army in Zaria, Kaduna State.

It would be recalled that several persons were killed after the Islamic group had tried to block the chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai from passing.

The president has been under heavy attacks for not reacting to the incident which left many persons dead.

Speaking on the issue for the first time at the Presidential Media Chat on Wednesday, the President said he would not speak in detail about the incident until he gets the report on what actually transpired between the two parties.

His words, “I will not speak in details about the incident until I get the report from the state government.

“The President of Iran spoke to me about the incident and I told him we are doing something about it and we’ll make our stand known very soon. But that doesn’t mean the police, army are not doing anything about.

“I watched the clips of the clash and I saw some teenagers trying to test the might of the general by blocking the road. Anyway, I won’t say any thing yet until I get the report from the appropriate quarter.”

Asked who will present the report, Buhari said, “I expect the Kaduna State government to set up a judiciary inquiry because the group has been existing in the state for years.

“When the report is out, I will react appropriately.”
