A popular Islamic scholar in Abia state, Suleiman Ukandu, has attacked the Imo state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, over comment on the voting pattern of ndigbo, in the just concluded 2019 presidential election in Nigeria.
DAILY POST reported that the embattled Governor, Anayo Rochas Okorocha, had stated that there would be nothing for South East under President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term.
Okorocha who stated this while addressing newsmen at the Government House Owerri, also said the ruling All Progressives Congress,APC, was full of controversies.
Ukandu, while reacting to the Imo governor’s assertion, in a question asked by DAILY POST in a press conference on Wednesday in Umuahia, posited that the creation of Nigeria was done on tripod and that every component of the country deserved to be treated fairly, in the interest of justice and equity.
According to the scholar, Okorocha is not well informed about the history of Nigeria, for saying that the southeastern region would be sidelined in the soon-to-be inaugurated second term of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He explained, “Nigeria is not a product of political party. Nigeria was created as a nation-state, and there are formations of its creation. It was created on tripod. The amalgamation was done on tripod. They amalgamated the north and south, and before the amalgamation, there was the amalgamation of the Southern protectorates, which includes the eastern region and western region.
“So, nobody will come and rule Nigeria on the basis of partisan politics. We are talking about Nigeria as a whole. The distribution of resources of Nigeria is not done on partisanship. The distribution of Nigeria resources are done based on the federal system which we are operating”.
