Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie has reacted to the arrest of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar’s son-in-law and family’s financial adviser, Babalele Abdullahi.
Abubakar on Monday said the Economic Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, has arrested his associates for supporting him in the just-concluded presidential election.
In a tweet, the former Vice President urged those allegedly persecuting his family members and associates to remember that government was meant to pursue peace and justice.
He was quoted as saying, “My son in law and lawyer have been detained, one for 3 weeks and the other recently.
“They are paying the price for supporting me. I urge those now persecuting them to remember that a government’s mandate is to pursue peace and justice for all, and not just those who support them,”
But reacting to the development, Onochie accused Atiku of selling the idea that people should walk free when they commit a crime.
She tweeted, ”Its sad that you are selling the idea that when people commit crimes, they should be allowed to walk free, simply because they are related to you.
”Nigeria has laws which go after and apprehend those who break them. Nigerians must be thankful that you can’t take us back to impunity.”
