President visit to Anambra
A presidential aide had disclosed on Friday in Abuja that President Goodluck Jonathan cannot be intimidated by any threat within or outside the FCT, and therefore, cannot be afraid to visit any part of the country as insinuated by some people.
Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Ahmed Gulak who disclosed this in an interview with some journalists in Abuja said that Jonathan will always be confident to tour any part of the country.
Gulak, while reacting to Thursday’s comments by the governors of the newly formed All Progressives Congress at Maiduguri, Borno State capital, where they said that true leaders should be able to visit any part of the country despite the level of crisis, said that Jonathan was a true leader who cannot be scared of his country.
Borno State has become one the states that have been put under serious and several attacks by the Islamic Boko Haram since they began their campaign against the Jonathan’s government.
It has been on record that Jonathan has not visited the state since the group launched their campaign in the North.
However, the Vice President, Sambo recently visited the state.
The governors said they chose Maiduguri to prove a point that “there should not be a no-go area for any Nigerian leader.”
Gulak affirmed that to show his doggedness, and to further clarify that he has never been afraid, the president will on Thursday visit Bornu state.
He said, “Who is afraid to visit Borno State? The President will be on a state visit to Borno State next week, March 7 to be precise.
“The governors are just trying to pre-empt the President. Goodluck Jonathan is not afraid of visiting any part of the country. He is the President of all states and all parts of the country without exception.”
