Professor Stephen Ikani Ocheni has been nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari’s for Ministerial appointment.
Professor Ocheni, an academician with Kogi State University, Anyigba is to replace late James Enojo Ocholi as Minister of State for Labour.
This development is coming over a year that the late Ocholi died in a ghastly motor accident along Kaduna – Abuja Road alongside his wife, Blessing and one of his sons, including his driver.
In an executive communication addressed to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and yet to be read as at the time of filing this report, President Buhari is seeking for the consideration of Professor Ocheni as replacement for Ocholi.
The nominee was said to have worked closely with late Prince Abubakar Audu when he contested for Kogi state gubernatorial elections on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) before his tragic death, thus suggesting that Audu’s political camp is being taken into consideration.
In the last one year, it has been unease for President Buhari for failing to appoint a replacement, a situation, where groups as well as individuals rose in condemnation, asserting that President Buhari was violating the constitutional provisions.
