Manchester United legend, Michael Carrick has revealed the message he delivered to midfielder, Paul Pogba ahead of last weekend’s Manchester derby at the Etihad.
Pogba had a poor performance in the first-half as goals from Vincent Kompany and lkay Gudogan put Manchester City in control of the game.
A win for City would have secured the Premier League title for them.
Jose Mourinho’s men, however, came into the second half much improved and got back into the match thanks to Pogba’s brace.
Chris Smalling volleyed home the third goal to complete a turnaround and put City’s title party on hold.
Carrick, who recently hung his boots, told Sky Sports, “I just kept it simple and said [to Pogba] ‘this is what you are’ and ‘this is what you’re good at.’
“But listen, he scored two goals so it’s not down to me. I’m glad I did [have an impact] because it shows little things do register with players.”
