Pep Guardiola’s men, who are still undefeated this season, raced into a two-goal lead, thanks to Leroy Sane and Fernandinho.
West Brom pulled one back through Ray Rodriguez, but substitute Raheem Sterling made it 3-1 to City. There was still enough time for Matthew Phillips to reduce the deficit.
Guardiola’s men now have 28 points from 10 fixtures.
Arsenal followed up their impressive win at Everton, with a 2-1 victory over Swansea at home.
In other games, Liverpool crushed Huddersfield 3-0, Crystal Palace drew 2-2 with West Ham and Stoke won 1-0 at Watford
