Premier League table: Man City retain 12-point lead ahead of Manchester United

Sergio Aguero scored a hat-trick, as Manchester City defeated Newcastle United 3-1 in Saturday’s late kick-off, to go 12 points clear at the top of the table.

City lost their 22-match unbeaten run last weekend at Liverpool and were keen to bounce back from the loss at the Etihad.

Aguero scored twice before the break to claim all three points for Pep Guardiola’s men. aJacob Murphy had pulled one back for the Magpies, to keep the game at 3-1.

In the earlier games, Chelsea hammered Brighton 4-0, Arsenal claimed their first win of the year with a 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace and Manchester United beat Burnley 1-0.

Leicester City saw off Watford 2-0, Everton drew 1-1 with West Brom, Stoke City defeated Huddersfield 2-0, while the game between West Ham and Bournemouth ended 1-1.
