Premier League table: Liverpool go 6 points clear, Man City drop to third place

The title race in England took a new twist on Boxing Day, as Liverpool opened a six-point lead at the top of the table.

Jurgen Klopp’s men hammered Newcastle United 4-0 at Anfield.

Dejan Lovren, Mohammed Salah, Xerdan Shaqiri and Fabinho all scored, as the Reds coasted to victory.

However, Manchester City lost for the second consecutive game, going down 2-1 at Leicester City despite taking the lead.

Pep Guardiola’s men are now seven points behind Liverpool.

Tottenham Hotspur are up to second, following their 5-0 battering of Bournemouth.

Manchester United also beat Huddersfield 3-1 at Old Trafford.
