Premier League: It will be tough – Conte speaks on defeat to Crystal Palace

helsea manager, Antonio Conte, has said that their remaining Premier League fixtures will tough from now until the end of the season.

The Blues appeared to be on their way to a comfortable victory, after Cesc Fabregas gave them a 5th minute lead against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

However, Wilfried Zaha and Christian Benteke scored twice in two minutes, to hand the league leaders a rare defeat.

Conte insists they deserved at least a draw from the game.

“I think we deserved at least a draw. We created many chances,” Conte said.

“But this is football. We must accept this result.

“We scored our goal after five minutes and then we conceded two in a few minutes. When you concede goals in that way you must understand the situation and improve on those mistakes.

“In every game in England, anything can happen. The league is so strong. We faced a team today with strong players. I think they showed they were a good team.”

Chelsea still hold a seven-point lead over Tottenham, but Conte has warned they cannot slip up again, with the next fixture against Manchester City on Wednesday.

“Now we have to think about the next game,” he added.

“If we had won we would have been happy but now it is important to focus on Manchester City.

“It will be a tough game, but every game from here on will be tough.”

But injuries marred the win for Spurs as Victor Wanyama and Harry Winks both had to be replaced shortly before half-time. In a freak incident, Winks was late into a challenge on Stephen Ward and momentum sent the young midfielder crashing into the ground right in front of the Burnley dugout and he was given oxygen on the sidelines.
