Dele Alli and Ben Davies scored for Spurs as Tottenham beat Newcastle United 2-0 on Sunday.

During the game that marked Newcastle’s return to the Premier League after their relegation in the 2015/2016 season, Jonjo Shelvey was shown a straight red card for stamping his foot on Alli’s ankle.

Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen exchanged passes before the Dane clipped the ball into the Newcastle United box which Alli on a volley smashed home in the 61st minute for the first goal.

Left-back Davies made it 2-0 in the 70th minute when he got to the end of an interchange of passes between Moussa Dembele, Alli and Ericksen and scored.

Kane was denied his 100th goal for Spurs by the foot of the post in the 90th minute. The England international is yet to score a Premier League goal in the month of August since his Spurs debut.
