Liverpool’s 4-0 win over West Ham on Sunday, means that Arsenal will need Middlesbrough to take at least a point from the Reds in their final Premier League fixture next weekend.
Jurgen Klopp’s men travelled to the Olympic Stadium on Sunday, knowing that dropping points will take away destiny from their hands, as they continue to seek a top-four finish.
Daniel Sturridge opened the scoring for Liverpool, but Andre Ayew missed from two yards out just before the break. West Ham’s hopes of a comeback were quenched in the second half, thanks to a Phillipe Coutinho brace.
Divock Origi added a fourth goal, to ensure his team stay fourth.
Arsenal are now four points behind Liverpool, but have two outstanding games against Sunderland and Everton next week. If the Gunners take maximum points from the two games and Liverpool defeat already-relegated Middlesbrough, then Arsene Wenger’s men will play in the Europa League next season.
