The Police in Enugu State have arrested a pregnant woman, simply identified as Mercy Chintua for allegedly pouring hot water on her co-tenant.
The incident, which occurred at Akwuke Awkunanaw, Enugu caused grievous body harm on the victim, Emmanuel Anyaebe.
The suspect told the police that she committed the act to punish the victim for allegedly spying on her while she was taking her bath.
She claimed that the victim saw her nakedness and that to make him pay for that, she boiled water and poured it on him.
The suspect, however, blamed the devil for her act and asked for forgiveness.
The police spokesman in Enugu State, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, DSP, who confirmed the incident, said the victim was now receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
Giving an insight into the incident, Emmanuel expressed shock over her neighbour’s action.
According to him, “I don’t have any problem with either the woman or her husband.
“It all started when I was going to take my bath but the woman prevented me from gaining entrance into the bathroom.
“I quickly went and reported to her husband. After complaining to the husband, I went back to the bathroom and the woman rushed with a bucket of hot water and splashed it on me”.
