Power tussle in NGF: Amaechi fixes meeting for Wednesday

Exactly one week after the Plateau state Governor, Jona Jang, held a controversial meeting of the Nigeria Governors Forum, Rivers State Governor and re-elected Chairman of the body, Rotimi Amaechi, on Monday called for a meeting of the Forum.

The invitation, which shows that meeting will hold on Wednesday by 8:00 pm. at the Rivers Governors Lodge, Abuja, was signed by one Chidinma Onyenalim, an aide to the forum chairman.

Ameachi’s meeting, which is the first since the disputed May 24 election, is expected to be boycotted by governors loyal to the Jang faction.

This is because governors on the side of Ameachi stayed away from the meeting called by Jang last week.

Amaechi is still on suspension slammed on him by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, but has support of all opposition governors, as well as some of his colleagues in the ruling party.
